Central IV

Mom's surgeon is recommending a central line to replace her two IV's. They will insert a triple catheter into her jugular. This will give them better access to administer nutrition, medication and to draw blood on a regular basis.  She has an infection and the doctor wants her blood tested intervally over the next few days. He also mentioned that that mom is not urinating as much as the liquids they are giving her should produce. He wants to make sure it is a result of her body fighting the infection and not a sign of kidney failure. A surgeon Dr. Chu will be performing the procedure.
